120 jobs to go at Arnott's in Adelaide

Biscuit maker Arnott’s is slashing 120 staff from its Marleston bakery facility.

The company today said 30 per cent of production at Arnott’s Marleston site would be moved to the brand’s other Australian manufacturing plants.

In the past five years, Arnott’s had spent $150 million upgrading its facilities, including the creation of two ‘super sites’ in Sydney and Brisbane.

Arnott’s spokesman Craig Funnell said more than 99 per cent of its biscuits sold in Australia were made in Australia.

“Manufacturing in Australia is part of Arnott’s DNA and our goal is to continue to manufacture here,” he said.

“To remain competitive in a global market, we need to embrace improved technology and asset utilisation.”
